How Should I Decorate My Home To Prepare For Putting It On The Market?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Just as 'location, location, location' is a mantra for real estate agents, so is 'neutral, neutral, neutral' when it comes to decorating. Furnish your home with broad sweeps of neutrals, accented by bright keynotes of colour.

Paint walls and ceilings in warm shades like mocha, cream or off-white. Neutral shades are also appropriate for carpets and other floor coverings. You will be surprised at how soft clean colours can clarify and uplift your living space, bringing a new light to the furniture you've had for years!

You can accent your room with a few bright splashes of colour.  Fresh flowers, vases, curtains and candles introduce interest and don't cost a lot of money.

This approach will give potential buyers the impression that their furniture will slip into the house easily.  Best of all, should you change your mind about selling, you'll have a cool and soothing sanctuary to call home!
