Military records are mainly from the two World Wars on the Find my Past site at www.findmypast.com but there are also some armed forces records as well.

The two major classes of indexed information comprises the roll of Soldiers who died in the Great War of 1914 to 1918. There is also the National Roll of the Great War 1914 to 1918. For the second world war, there is the Army Roll of Honour 1939 to 1945. Earlier military records include Other army lists roll calls 1656 to 1888 and the Armed forces births, marriage and deaths between 1761 and up to as recently as 1994.

Military records can be very detailed and can provide a great deal of useful information about your ancestor that you maybe never expected to find. Record cards, for example, often provide a physical description with height and weight and any birth marks or scars.
