It's the stork who builds her nest on the top of chimneys and they are very large nests too! Some stork nests have measured over six feet in diameter and 10 feet in depth. It was thought that the stork remained with its mate for life, but recent studies into the bird have shown that after they migrate, they often migrate without their mate. Storks are long legged and long necked birds that have long stout bills. They can be found in the warmer climates of the world, and they have no bird call as such. Bill-clattering is all you will hear from a stork, but this is the way in which it communicates with other storks.
Most storks eat a diet of frogs, fish, insects and worms. Sometimes they will eat smaller birds or small mammals. There are a total of 19 different species of storks in the world.
