Pachycephalosaurus means 'thick-headed lizard' in Greek. A defining characteristic is the knobby crown on its head. The Pachyycephalosaurus was 8 meters in length and six meters high. It walked on two legs. It ate fruit, leaves, and perhaps insects, which it might have grabbed with its five fingers! Remains of the pachycephalosaurus have been found in Europe, North America and Asia.
The bony crown on the head and nose of the dinosaur is like that of a mountain goat. Some scientists believe that, like rams, the dinosaurs liked to butt each other. The males played this game to establish dominance. This is a controversial view, however, because head-butting could have damaged the neck. Other scientists think that the dinosaurs engaged in flank-butting, a behaviour of giraffes. It is widely agreed, however, that the pachycephalosaurus traveled in herds and would have been engaged in some sort of display of 'oneupmanship' to establish its place in the herd.
