Catherine Zeta-Jones won the category of 'Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role' in the 75th Academy Awards, held in 2003.
This was playing the part of Velma Kelly in 'Chicago'.
Fellow nominees for the award included Kathy Bates in 'About Schmidt', Julianne Moore in 'The Hours', Queen Latifah in 'Chicago' and Meryl Streep in 'Adaptation'.
Renee Zellweger, who starred as the lead in 'Chicago' was also nominated for an Oscar, but lost out to Nicole Kidman.
Heavily pregnant Catherine Zeta-Jones used her acceptance speech to thank the cast and crew of 'Chicago', her actor husband Michael Douglas and gave a special mention to all the people in Swansea, South Wales where Zeta-Jones grew up.
'Chicago' is a film musical which deals with two murdering women, who find themselves on death row together. They each fight from being sent to the gallows. Richard Gere stars as their lawyer, Billy Flynn.
