    Obviously if the bite is swollen and painful it must be infected. You need some form of medical intervention although it doesn't necessarily have to be from a Doctor. You could visit a reputable pharmacy in your local area and ask the pharmacist to take a look and prescribe a topical cream to reduce inflammation and swelling.

      Try to leave it alone and not bother with it. Epictetus is right, you could see a pharmacist or even go to your local health department.
