A drawing pin is also called a thumb tack. It is a short nail or pin which is made of metal. It has large head which is slightly rounded in shape. It is used to fasten documents to a notice board for public display. It can easily be inserted or removed by hand.
Thumb tacks can also be made by connecting a stem (which is made of brass) to a flat head (which is also made of brass). Some thumb tacks also have coloured tops which are made of plastic. This gives them a more attractive appearance.
Map pins or push pins comprise of a handle-like cover which is made of plastic and a round head which measure one millimetre. This can be used to bring the pin out of the wall and remove it easily from any surface.
