What Is Parvo Virus?

    Parvo is a dangerous and contagious viral infection in dogs especially in puppies. Parvovirus virus can destroy lymphoid tissue, intestine and bone marrow of the affected dog. Dehydration, vomiting and diarrhea with or without blood are major signs of Parvo. Its transmission in healthy dogs is by stools of infected dogs and contaminated objects. Fecal test, blood test and abdominal X-rays are used to diagnose this infection. Acute attacks of Parvo require hospitalization. Treatment is done to control vomiting, diarrhea and dehydration.
