Can A Rape Victim Have No Injuries?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Rape is a crime of violence. It isn't a seual act. Whether the injuries are emotional or physical, it is degrading at the very least to the victim. I think it is quite common for a victim to freeze up so to speak as a defense mechanism. They could knowingly or unconsciously become submissive which could indeed result in less or no physical violence beyond the act itself.

If by injuries you mean physical injuries, then the answer is yes.  Not all victims of rape are hit or beaten by the rapist because often the rapist has a weapon and threatens the victim with harm thereby convincing her not to resist the rape physically, so the rapist does not need to use physical force.  In addition, because a woman will often become lubricated during a rape if the rapist engages in some foreplay or physically manipulates or licks or stimulates the woman's genitals prior to entering her, the victim often will not have any internal injuries from the rape either.  So, even though the woman is actually raped, she may not show any injuries consistent with a sexual assault.  I know this to be true from my own experience of being raped about 4 1/2 years ago.  I was threatened with a knife but not beaten and the rapist engaged in foreplay and oral sex with prior to entering me, so I did not have internal injuries to my genitals as a result of the attack.
