    Occupational therapy is the use of activities to promote health and independence, particularly after the acute phase of an illness, to reorient patients who are unable to work for very long periods of time.

    Occupational therapist tailor programs to restore physical functions and devise ways to help those with permanent limitations carry out everyday functions.

    Everyday, there are millions of people who go to participate in some form of an occupational therapy session. These sessions can be simulating activities of daily living such as shopping, driving a car or cleaning a house. Other program can include an exercise or swimming program, or activities to focus on one or more particular parts of the body.

    Occupational therapy has been able to help many people who were sick or injured obtain their health enough that they are successfully able to re-enter into the world of work. This is why people go to see a occupational therapist.
