2. Yahoo
3. MSN
4. About.com
5. AOL
There are various factors which determine whether a search engine is good enough or not like the speed, the accuracy of the search engine in directing you to the relevant sites and whether it is user friendly involving features like personal settings, images and categorization for easy access to information.
The above mentioned search engines provide all that one could ask for on the net and are downright easy to use. While Google is purely a search engine and About.com has more to do with web content, Yahoo and MSN and AOL are consumer portals that offer more than search options; here one can avail of services related to shopping, news, email, downloads among others.
The advantages of the above search engines are that all have a large catalogue to choose from and use automated programs, except About.com which uses human editors, to read pages which gives results in indexed form more often based on the typed in word matching with the content of the site and the number of times it has been visited before.
