What Does 'Yan' Mean In Chinese/japanese?

I've been told this means 'respect' and the symbol looks kinda similar to 'ICP' in English. Any feedback appreciated.

It will help if you give the actual Chinese or Japanese characters. As the pronunciation 'yan' can have many different characters, which means it can represent different meaning. For example, in Chinese, 'yan' with first tone, can mean 'smoke, cigarette' , and 'yan' with the fourth tone, can mean 'annoyed', and etc.

I see. It's '仰', which is pronounced as 'yang' instead of 'yan'. The meaning of 'yang' here is look up sth or sb, or respect sb. Hope it helps.
