Gambling is the act of placing money or any material goods on the outcome of an event with the hope of winning more than the amount placed if the outcome is favorable. Gambling takes place in several ways; card and dice games, buying lottery tickets and playing video games and casino games are all considered to be different forms of gambling.
Gambling can also take place in the form of wagers and bets on the outcome of games and sporting events. The betting in most cases is done via an agent known as bookie or it may be done on an informal or private level.
Gambling in most places is deemed as an illegal act though it exists as a regulated practice in some places; such places where gambling is permitted have become quite popular as tourist destinations. The popularity of gambling depends on the predictability of the outcome of the events and the skill level involved.

Yeah. Sports betting has become widely popular. For example: right now it seems like everyone is trying to get free MLB picks. One great site I have found with loads of free picks and loads of information on sports in general is http://pregame.com/pregamepros/freepicks.aspx
A whole page of free picks! Good luck!
