Ask your Q at PCPro forum for a good answer, but have you tried 'System restore'? It's under programs-accessories-system tools.

My friend had a similar problem, and in the end we reinstalled Windows as the only option as everything was freezing up.

Sounds like you haven't got a decent anti-virus and firewall installed. I recommend AVG and ZoneAlarm- both free.

Go to control panel and then "add/remove program".

See if you can find these program in that list. Remove these one by one. If you can't find it there, then delete them directly from the folder.
Don't know the folder? Search it from start menu>> Search>> Files or folders.

      Best of luck !

Since these programs are running in the background they got the idea like they belong in your system, so they installed in places that make them active once you are logged into XP. In order to get rid of them there are several things to do. One, when you are logged into XP, open up each program's options or control areas and look for ways to instruct it not to start up with windows. It would be a check box or a radio button or something like that. You tell it not to start with windows. Then you would boot up next time and see if it obeyed. If it did obey the way you know is by going to the Windows Control Panel and choosing "Add Or Remove Programs" and selecting the program(s) to remove. If it successfully removes at this stage, then you have your mission accomplished. But, if this does not work, then you have to do one more thing. Or two more things. You have to shut down your computer and tell it to restart, only this time when it is restarting and you see the grey line at the bottom of the black screen, you need to press F8 to get into the setup screen. There you will get the option to boot up in "Safe Mode" Select Safe Mode, and wait the inexorably long time for the system to load into what almost looks like the desktop you are familiar with. There, you go to Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs, and select the program you want to remove. It should be able to be removed at this stage. If not, then you need to go into your Start Menu, Run..., Cmd, Dir C, Programs, and Del the program in question. Anyone knowing how this part of the system works better than this would probably be able to give better instructions than this. But if all fails, really all fails, then call the mfrs of the programs and tell them you don't want them and ask them how to uninstall their programs from your system. They should be able to tell you exactly how to do it.
