Crete is the largest island in Greece (fifth largest in the Mediterranean), and lies in the Mediterranean Sea. It is grouped as one of the seven Aegean Islands, along with the Northeastern Aegean Islands, Euboea, the Northern Sporades, the Cyclades, the Saronic Islands (or Argo-Saronic Islands), the Dodecanese (or Southern Sporades). Crete basically lies where Asia, Europe and Africa meet, and is surrounded by the Libyan Sea to the south and Cretan Sea to the north. Of course, it sits in the Mediterranean Sea.
