The author of the "Magic Faraway Tree" is Enid Blyton. The novel was published in 1943 and is the second instalment of the popular "Faraway Tree" series. There are four novels in the series.

The novels explore the adventures of a group of children who discover an enchanted tree known as the Faraway Tree. The children discover that there are many magical creatures living in the tree. The children notice that the tree has a ladder leading to the top of it, which takes them to a different land every time they climb it. The novels in the series are as follows:

    The Enchanted Wood (1939)
    The Magic Faraway Tree (1943)
The Folk of the Faraway Tree (1946)
    Up the Faraway Tree (1951)

There are many different lands featured in the books. A few of these include The Land of Toys, The Land of Topsy-Turvy, The Land of Dreams and The Land of Spells.
The series is one of Enid Blyton’s most popular works. The second instalment, "The Magic Faraway Tree" is particularly popular and earned a place in the BBC’s Big Read list in 2003, where UK readers voted for their favourite book. The novel entered the poll at number 66.
