Dr Martin Cooper is extensively regarded to be the creator of the cell phone. He made the cell phone while he was working as Motorola's general Manager.

He first made a call on the cell phone in 1973. A mobile telephone is a long distance, handy electronic device made for personal telecommunication over lengthy distances. Nearly all the present mobile phones hook up to a base station. This in return is interconnected to the public switch telephone network (PSTN). The first generations of cell phone were first started in the mid 1980's. The sizes of these early cell phones were really huge and were installed in cars as car phones. With the advancement of technology most of the cell phones designed now days are hand held. Apart from the basic voice function, a cell phone now a days support other services like SMS, MMS, E-Mail etc.

I am the last Motorola Dynatac cell phone user in Canada. I have a Purew analog phone on the Rogers TDMA service. As of may 31 2007 I will be cut off due to Rogers discontinuing their tdma service. I guess I also made history due to the fact Dr Cooper was the first to make a phone call and i will be the last. Yep you better believe it, I'm still using a motorola analog brick. I am the last one in this country.
