Can A Landlord Deduct Carpet Cleaning (normal Wear And Tear) From The Security Deposit?

A friend moved out of his apartment (lease was up) and left it cleaner than at move-in. He has no pets, is single, and keeps his apartment immaculate. Landlord deducted carpet cleaning cost from his security deposit. Can they do that?

In general, they don't do that. But it also depends on the legal agreement that the tenants have with the landlord. So you better check in the agreement first and then talk to him.
