When Did Sugar Ray Robinson First Start Boxing?

Known as one of the greatest boxers of all time Sugar Ray Robinson first started boxing before he turned 16. He made his professional boxing debut in the year 1940. He had knocked out his opponent Joe Echevarria. In the opening two rounds of the bout. In the year 1942 he had defeated the world champion 'Sammy Angott". Ray Robinson also defeated the former world champion Fritzie Zivic. According to Ray Robinson the match against Fritzie Zivic was one of the toughest he ever fought.

Sugar Ray Robinson had a very impressive boxing career, a total of 202 fights out of which he won 175 fights. He had won 108 fights via Knock Out. Losing 19 bouts and drawing only 6 of his matches.  

Ray Robinson was regarded as the "pound for pound" boxer by many boxing fans and critics.
