My 89 Chevy Truck Shakes Really Bad When In Park While Running. What Could It Be?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

It depends on the type of shake.  If it is a vibration that shakes fast and steady then you may have a collapsed motor mount.  Check the motor mounts and see if the rubber on any of them is ripped or broken.  If the mount is collapsed then if will not dampen the vibrations from the motor and let the vibrations travel to the frame and back to you. However if the shake is a misfire then you may have another problem.  With the car running get out and look at the moter and see if it is shaking or jumping excesivly.  If that is the case you may have an ignition problem or fuel problem.  (bad spark plugs, plug wires, fuel injector, etc.)
