A decade is a period of ten year, and that is how long it is. A decade can be defined as a group of ten years in contemporary English. According to the French Revolutionary calendar a decade can refer to ten days. The word 'Decade' has been derived from Latin word 'Decas'or from the Greek word 'Dekas' or from 'Deka'. However in general English the word can be used to specify a general period of ten years, it can also define a historical period of the last ten years.
