What Is The Weather In The Vortex Of A Hurricane?

Answer Question

It is not clear what you mean by "vortex".  The whole hurricane is a vortex.  If you mean the "Eye" of the hurricane, then I can answer with some experience.  I grew up in Florida and experienced several hurricanes, including  the eye at least once.  The winds and rain, which have grown for hours (even days) become very strong and then quit suddenly. It is very calm and in the daytime, the sun may come out; at night, the stars. This can last for  5 or 10 minutes, maybe longer, depending on the size of the hurricane and the speed it is moving.  Then, suddenly, the winds start up again, just as strong as before but this time in the opposite direction. If you have gone outside because you thought the hurricane was over, then you can be blown into some object and maybe hurt badly.  The hurricane will continue for hours, diminishing slowly and only then can you come out and look at the damage.
