What Should The Penalty Be For Committing Perjury?
Should people who commit perjury do prison time? Jail time? Pay fines? Community service? What is the ultimate punishment for perjury?

Perjury carries a heavy penalty in most countries, because a courtroom is a place where you are trying to establish the truth. People have got to be more afraid of the consequences of lying on oath than of the consequences of telling the truth, otherwise lying in court would be commonplace and no witness could be relied on. So while at first sight it seems really harsh to give someone a substantial prison sentence just for telling a lie, you can see the thinking. Also, I believe it's very rare for anyone actually to be sentenced for perjury - don't know if that means the deterrent effect is working or not?

The perjury cases in family court are nearly NEVER prosecuted. There is NO punnishment for committing perjury under most cases
That's exactly what I said.
I fell that anyone that lies under oath should do the time. They have taken the oath to tell the truth and should be made to stand by it. If we can not get the truth and count on the court system to back us up if they lie during this time then we have no law in this country. I know that too many times this goes unpunished and is not looked at harsh enough. I think it is time that people pay for the crimes they do and if it is with the mouth then by all means cut out their tongues!!!!! I am so over LIARS! I just put a protection order on a person who went out the next day and started back up and just started doing it over the internet. Very little they can do about the crap they do with the calls that are placed that way. They can lie their way out of it.
