    Can I Be Compensated Rent Money If My Apt Is Illegal And I Didn't Know?

    I am being evicted for overdue balance on my rent. In preparing for my court date, I found out my basement apt in my building may be illegal. Can I counter sue for moving expenses?

    You need to talk to the landlord/tenant board about this, this is a tricky one, and you can probably sue for all or most of your money back. Don't just walk, run there!
