Any Advice Girls?
I live far from the city, and I just made an appointment at the only reasonably near doctors office. The next one is a far away and would cost a lot of gas money. The problem is my best friend is the new office gynecologist. I love my friend but I don't want her as my gyno. The other option at the office is male and I'm not comfortable with that. I'm a college graduate and need all my money to stay on my feet. I think I'm in a lose, lose situation. What should I do?!

I can understand you not wanting your best friend to be your gynecologist. That could definitely be uncomfortable. You don't seem to have a lot of choices. I can only tell you that even though going to a gyno isn't my idea of a good time, I have a male doctor, and I think he's terrific. My primary concern is that he's a good doctor. He puts me at ease in an otherwise not too pleasant situation. He keeps up with all of my medical problems. Maybe I was just lucky. I would say you need to weigh the pros and cons of seeing your friend or seeing the male doctor. I'm not trying to be flip about it, but you may have to just bite your lip and think about something else during the exam. You're going to have to face it eventually.

Many General Practitioners (aka Family Practitioners) also do OB/GYN exams. I haven't seen an actual OB/GYN in years, I've all my annual exams & even infections, etc. Handled by my GP. Maybe there's a female GP at the clinic you could see.

Well, here are your choices....
-drive to the other doctor (more money)
-go to your girlfriend
-go with the guy
those are the only choices you have, and i think you don't know what to do because you're hoping that there's some sort of 4th choice. But there's not (sucks, i know). If i were you, i would go with the guy. If he's a good doctor, i would go with him. What if you get into a fight with your girl friend....continuing to see her as your gyno would be that much more awkward. I would keep friends and gynos separate.
