A veterinarian also called a vet is an animal physician. The word veterinarian is derived from the Latin work veterinae, which means "draught animals"

All thought vets all over the world are given doctors degree and go through widespread training in the veterinary medical practice, they can take up other career options apart from doing clinical practice.

A large number of vets continue to do post-graduation training and take up careers related to research and contribute in a large way towards the human and veterinary fields. Veterinarians contributed in a large way to control malaria and yellow fever in the United States. Like physicians, vets also at times have to take up decisions to save and improve the health of their patients. The expression "veterinarian" was first used in the English language by Thomas Browne.
