Are There Any Home Remedies To Get Rid Of Cat Urine Smell And To Keep Cats From Peeing On Things In The House?

I have 4 cats that live outside in my garage and they have started going all over the place - I want to get them to go outside the garage as they once did. Any home remedies - does citrus smell repel them from returning to an area?

There are a number of remedies to get rid of Cat Urine smell. First of all train your cats to use the Litter box only for urination. And keep the litter box clean. You can clean carpets, curtains and sofas with a mixture of 3 parts water and one part vinegar, in order to make them smell free. Sprinkle the area with baking soda when its dry. Then mix 3/4 cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide solution with 1 teaspoon dish wash detergent and sprinkle over the baking soda. Use an old brush to work the baking soda in. Let it dry and vacuum it. This will help remove the urine stains as well as smell. You can mop or wash the floors with clean water. And then mop it with bleach. This would help in elimination of any smell.
