So far eight Cricket World Cup tournaments have been played and the ninth one is currently going on. So far Australia has won it three times, West Indies has clinched the title two times, while Pakistan, Sri Lanka and India have all managed to lift the trophy once each.
The first World Cup final was played in 1975 between Australia and the West Indies and the latter emerged out as the winners.
The second World Cup final was played between the West Indies and England in 1979, where once again the mighty West Indians won it again.
Surprisingly for the third time, India emerged out as the surprise winners in 1983, while the West Indies earned the position of the runner-ups.
The fourth World Cup, which was played for the first time in the subcontinent in 1987 was won by Australia while England for the second time, managed to reach the finals.
