Try some books by Terry Goodkind, Christopher Paolini, or, if you don't mind being scared, Joseph Delaney. They are all good authors, but it really depends on your favourite kind of genre

If you like to sit on the edge of your seat, I would suggest Stephen King, any one of his books are good, and they are very good for using your imagination. If that isn't your cup of tea, there is always Twain, and his many works, and shakespeare. Hope this helps.

I just finished the book called The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch.  It is non-fiction and a true story.  It's not that big but loved every page ot it and it only took me two hours to read but then again once I start reading, I don't move unless there is a fire!  Other than that, Stephen King novel, Patricia Cornwell, Dean Koontz, Danielle Steele, James Patterson are all good contemporay authors. Oh, I can't leave out Nicholas Sparks or Mary Higgens-Clark, or John Grisham.

Suspense books: James Patterson is excellent and a quick read the way he formats his writing.

            Other Suspense authors:
            Harlon Coben
            Greg Isles

            Romance, light suspense
            Nora Roberts
