If you truly need them to be black and white for the site, (or do you just need them to be smaller files?) and you do not have photoshop, here is what you can use: Check if your existing photo editor software that came with the camera or scanner includes a control called "saturation" and turn it down to none. That would turn it into a black and white photo. If you do not have a photo editing software, then go to google and locate through search a program called "Gimp" which is free. Follow the directions to download a stable version for your operating system and install it. Then follow the directions I gave you concerning saturation. The color level is known as saturation, and an absence of saturation is the absence of color. If you just need a smaller file, you don't have to turn anything into black and white. But you didn't say that you do.
