What Does Cry Mean?

To cry means to shed tears. They don't have to be tears of sadness; they can be tears of joy.  I often cry when I'm laughing so hard, I just can't stop myself.  I don't know why, but "a good cry" is often a good emotional outlet, and just about everyone I know feels better after one.  When my kids were in junior high school and the hormones were running rampant, they were always breaking up and making up with friends day in and day out.  I would always tell them to go take a shower, turn on the radio, REAL LOUD, get in the shower, and cry as loud and long as they needed to, until they felt better.  Never failed.  Interesting question.
