It is possible for a dog to become pregnant if it was mated during its first heat.  Pitbulls generally have their first heat at about 6-8 months.  Whilst she can become pregnant at this age, it is not recommended to breed from dogs this young as they will continue to grow and develop up until 18months to 2 years of age.  Females in heat are extremely attractive to male dogs and it may be necessary for you to take extra precautions to ensure your female is isolated from any males during this period.

Dogs can become pregnant after achieving puberty. In female dogs, puberty is characterized by heat cycle. Usually, all dogs including Pit bulls have their first heat cycle at the age of 6-8 months. At this age, they can become pregnant but it is not recommended to breed them at this age.

Dogs are not physically mature when they get first heat cycle. Pregnancy at this age can cause complications for mother. Dogs should also be certified by the vet that they are fit for breeding. These certificates are issued after some tests. These tests are possible at the age of 2 years. So, although dogs can be pregnant after 6-8 months of age but ideally, they should be breed after 2 years of age.

They can get pregnant as soon as the first heat comes in but its not safe for her to get pregnant until she is about 1 years old. It could kill her and even stunt her growth and also kill the puppies

A female dog can get pregnant any time after they go into heat.  But just my opinion, it is best to wait until they are 12-24 months of age depending on the size and breed.  It is better to wait until the female is fully grown herself before she has to take on the added load of growing puppies inside her.

Am Staffs (aka pit bulls) usually come into their first heat between 5-7 months. Before breeding, you should wait until after the second heat (6 month's in between cycles), have her checked by your vet and know the in and history of the male you plan to breed her with.
