Allan Cunningham was a poet from Scotland who did some works that are considered to be among the best in his respective field. Though his lifespan was not very long as he was born in 1784 and died in 1842, he got the respect as he created some of the best works for which people remember him even today.

The place where he was born is called Dalwinston in Drumfriesshire and he also had the advantage of living close to Robert Burns who is considered as the national poet of Scotland as his father was the neighbour of the poet. In the earlier stage of his life the writer served as an apprentice to a stonemason but his real love was books and he gave all his spare time to his love i.e. books. He gained fame also because of his love of books.
