Where Can I Go Skiing In Scotland?

Answer Question

4 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

While many skiers head for the Alps, and Alpine prices, it is often forgotten that Scotland has some good skiing on offer that won't cost you an arm and a leg.

Just a couple of hours drive from Edinburgh, we have the relatively isolated Glenshee, which offers 40km of downhill.

Cairngorm also has 40km of runs, but check first that the runs are open, as this one tends to suffer from either to much, or too little, snow. The advantage to Cairngorm, however, is that Aviemore offers some cracking nightlife.

If you feel like heading for Fort William, then the Nevis Range offers the most up-to-date skiing facilities, including gondolas.

Glencoe Mountain is well regarded for the quality of the snow. It has varied terrain, and boasts the steepest marked run in Scotland, the breath-taking Fly Paper.

But if you are relatively new to skiing and feel like the gentler pistes will be ample, then you will surely enjoy The Lecht, east of Inverness.

Scotland offers it tourist various destinations for Skiing. One of the most famous place for skiing is Glenshee which offers you very decent skiing, although sometimes it may seem to icy. This place proves really comfortable for intermediate skiers. It is within easy reach, i.e. two hours drive from Edinburgh and also provides you with spontaneous ski trip with 40 km downhill. Subsequently, the place that offers you the very right conditions for beginners is The Lecht.
Cairngorm is one of the largest resorts and offers an excellent platform for single plankers. It is offers a very good stretch of snow land fro advanced skiers. Nevis Range is yet another suitable place but can seem very challenging, since it is exposed to heavy winds and the road below near Fort William seems like an ugly dump!!!!
