How Do I Change My Sons Last Name And Take My Ex Boyfriend Off The Birth Certificate?

You can not legally remove the fathers name off the birth certificate and you can not just change your sons last name because you two broke up. That would have to all be taking care of through the court system. I've personally dealt with this with my ex-wife and it does not work. As long as the child's father is in his life, the courts will NOT let a mother do that, even if the dad wasn't in that child's life. If your ex-boyfriend signed his name or you put his name on the birth certificate you can't change it, like i said, unless it is approved by the judge your son will have his dad last name. I hope you are asking about this because you just broke up with your sons dad, and want to do this just to piss him off....if this is why you are doing it, i just got to say, think of the child
