I have been leasing to own for the past 2 years and was late on 1 payment in that time. I was put in jail 4 counties away when rent was due and couldn't contact landlord. I came home and all my belongings were gone and he had already moved someone else in to my dwelling. What are my legal resources in this matter?

Legally you can't be evicted without a notice. After notice you still have right to pay the rent and remain in the property. The judge decides the matter in the court. In your case, you should contact the concerned department in your area and should fight for your rights. Also read the eviction law of your state.
