From a personal front as well as from a team perspective, the 1996 Test Series played between Pakistan and England turned out to be a special series for Pakistan's Wasim Akram, who was also captaining his side on that tour.

The personal highlight for Wasim during that series was his 300th test wicket, which he took in the third test against England at Oval, taking the tenth wicket of England in the second innings, bowling out Allan Mullaly. It was a great achievement as at that time, Courtney Walsh was the only bowler who was Wasim's contemporary for achieving the bravura feat.

As far as team achievement went, Pakistan scored a wonderful victory against England winning the series by a margin of 2-0. The first test in Lord's was won by Pakistan by 164 runs while the second test at Headingley Leeds was drawn. The final victory came in the third and final test at Oval, which Pakistan won by 9 wickets.

It was special because Wasim Akram got a hat trick against England in a test match.
