Blackpool Football Club (abbreviated as Blackpool F.C.) was founded in the year 1877. It plays its home matches at its ground at Bloomfield Road. Bloomfield Road is located at South Shore in the city of Blackpool, which is located in the county of Lancashire. It has a seating capacity of about 9, 000. It was opened in 1899. The ground is also used by the Blackpool Panthers rugby league team.
Two of the stands at the ground were reconstructed between the years 2001 and 2002. The South Stand had been demolished in the year 2003 to accommodate the construction of a new stand. The reconstruction increased the seating capacity to 11, 295, which is further expected to go up to about 16, 000 when the construction of the stadium is complete. The ground has four stands, namely the Pricebusters Matthews Stand, the Mortensen North Stand, the Temporary East Stand and the South Stand.
