Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The Fernald Closure Project, which is also called the Fernald site, was a facility where the activity of uranium processing took place. It was located at a distance of about 18 miles to the northwest of the city of Cincinnati, which is located in the state of Ohio in the United States of America.

The Fernald Closure Project, or the Fernald Site, was established in the year 1952. In the year 1989, when it had completed 37 years of operations to support the weapons programs of the United States of America's Department of Defence, the management of the site decided to shut down the production of uranium metals and focus on complying with the environment, management of waste products and remediation.

Since the year 1992, Fluor Fernald has managed to clean up the 1, 050-acre Fernald site for the United States of America's Department of Energy, which is abbreviated as the DOE.
