It means that you are commanding the person to mind his own work. Sometimes it provokes the opposite person which would result in a quarrel or argument

Pointing a finger at someone in India might mean that you are trying to threaten them or something. You might not understand it but by pointing a finger at someone you might hurt someone's emotions and offend them unintentionally and things can get ugly.
