Can I Be Allergic To My Pet Box Turtle?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

You can be allergic to anything, including your own tears and skin dander... If you think you are allergic to your pet, make sure you wash your hands very well with soap and water before and after touching him, and clean his cage thoroughly (while wearing gloves) to minimize the amount of allergens there are. Most likely you are not allergic to your turtle, but rather something new you have brought in with him like his food, wood chips or the chemicals on the wood chips, shell spray or anything else you've had to start using or handling since you got him. Try eliminating or changing brands/ingredients of one thing at a time and see if it gets better. Good luck to you!
