    The main nickname of Barnsley Football Club is 'the Tykes'.
    Barnsley is located in South Yorkshire. A 'tyke' is a colloquial Yorkshire term which is applied to a person who is hard-working, proud of their roots and a bit cheeky.
    Their other nickname is 'the Reds' which refers to the red shirt and white shorts which Barnsley have adopted as their kit.

    Barnsley Football Club play at the Oakwell Stadium which is located in Barnsley. It has a capacity of approximately 23,000.
    Barnsley have not been the most successful of English football teams, although they did win the FA cup in 1912, when they beat West Bromwich Albion by 1-0 at Bramall Lane.

    They also reached the Premiership in 1997, but were unfortunately relegated after just one season.

    Barnsley currently reside in the Championship division, having been promoted from League One in the 2005/06 season after winning in the play-offs.
