There are a few options starting with the less drastic.
Before undertaking any of these options preferably do a virus scan of your computer. If you do not have a virus scanner or software then you can download a free one called AVG from Google.
1st option.(Easy)
System Restore, What this does is it returns your computer to a state that it was a week or so ago. It only effects any software changes and not documents. Therefore probably the safest option.
2nd Option(Hard)
next option if your c drive or d drive is not operating properly then perhaps a Reformat is in order. What this does is completely erases the hard drive and restores it to its empty and default settings. *NOTE Before Reformatting Back Up all necessary documents, software and make sure you have a copy of windows or your operating system.

3rd Option
Okay this is only as a LAST resort. Open your computer case and have a look at your hard drive. Its a brick looking shape, just make sure that all cables running to it and from it are connected. If you are not sure or you think something else is wrong contact your local computer repair company.
