What Is A Spray Tan?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

In the case of Spray tanning, it is characterized by the application of a certain type of mist to the body. This particular mist is applied in the form of a spray onto the body in a booth, which could now be conveniently found at almost all higher-end tanning salons as well as spas. The resulting mist that emits out is inclusive of dihydroxyacetone (DHA), which is actually a chemical that comes in direct contact with dead skin cells and consequently dyes all the cells brown. The entire process of spray tanning leaves the skin with a golden brown hue that appears exactly like a natural tan.

It is actually the type of booth that is used that will determine whether the mist will be water or oil based; people having a sensitive skin should suitably opt out for a water base. In addition to that, some salons also provide a diverse assortment of mists, thus giving the customers a wide array of choices to determine the required degree of darkening. Nevertheless if a person is very fair-skinned, it should always be understood very clearly that an extremely dark look will ruin the appearance and would make the skin color look gauche and feigned, no matter how high of a quality or how expensive of a price the brand has.

Spray tans contain DHA but are often in lighter formulations. They are also much easier to apply.
