1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

A Civil procedure is generally refers to the civil Law where laws are set for businesses, domestic issues, and accidents and generally anything which is not criminal. However, there are situations where a civil and a criminal procedure can overlap.

A civil procedure is usually carried out in a court of law and domestic relation matters are usually handled in a domestic relations court. Basically civil law is quite complex and it has a wide range of different rules and regulations. A civil procedure however only refers to the procedure itself, not the laws. It can be confusing but generally a civil procedure occurs when a law in broken within the civil law and depending upon which law was broken, depends upon which court you go to. An example of a civil procedure includes somebody whose civil rights have been violated and they can pursue legal action depending upon the outcome of the civil procedure.
