Interesting, Important, And Fascinating Facts About The Washington Monument, Can You Help?

I am writing a report about fascinating facts on the Washington Monument. I need facts on them and I was wondering if you new anything please give me facts that are interesting, i mportant, and fascinating. Please post facts like historical things that happened there and fascinating facts about how or when it was built.
