Can I Give Pedialyte To My 6lb Dog?

My dog was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis on Thursday evening. She was given some meds. I was told to give here only ground chicken and rice. She has not been drinking any water since, although she was on an IV Thursday for dehydration. Can I try giving here flavored pedialyte?

I wouldn't do it, there are sites that you can go to for veterinary care, and ask the vets a question. I don't know if there's a fee involved with asking and getting the information though.

Try netvet.com for one of the sites. The other one that I can think of off the top of my head is petvet.com, I think the first one that I mentioned is the better of the two.

Another site that you could check out is drlarrypetvet.com, this site asks for $5.95 per question. Or you can try purinaone.com, the site says it's free. I really encourage you to talk to someone about it.

Or you can call another local vet and talk to the assistant or maybe even the vet himself, if you explain enough to them about what you're dealing with. Hope this helps, good luck.

Absolutely and you should do it NOW.  My dog was suffering from dehydration and it was during the weekend, so I knowing that dogs and humans take the same kind of medications I gave my dog pedialyte.  When she saw the vet on Monday, the vet said that is what saved her life.  Even if you have to force it down their throat, do it, it will make a positive difference

Yes you can.  Give it just a little bit to start out with like about half a cup.
