The Urmia Lake or Lake Urmia is a saline lake. It is situated in the northwestern part of Iran. Urmia is the largest lake of the Middle East Asia. It is consisted with an area that varies 5,200 square kilometers to 6,000 square kilometers. The lake is about 140 kilometers long. It is also 40 to 55 kilometers wide. The Lake Urmia has a maximum depth of 16 meters. In the southern part of the lake, there is a bunch of around fifty tiny islands. The lake is fed or nourished by three rivers, though the Lake Urmia has not any outlet. Since the year of 1968 the Lake Urmia was started to be protected.
