What Is A Routing Number?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Routing numbers are used in banking and transactions. They are a nine-digit code which uniquely represent the specific financial organisation or bank itself. Routing numbers are often printed along the foot of cheques and are used to correctly direct the payment/transaction to the correct destination bank for processing. Transaction processing in the traditional way can take time, as funds need to be debited and credited between different accounts. There are now several companies that offer a managed transaction processing service which can offer an easy-to-use reliable system. This is especially useful for persons looking to sell goods online and requiring a secure transaction function for the payments of orders.
