Pakistan as a country emerged on the world map on 14th August 1947. But the history of Pakistan does not start from here. Much before the creation of Pakistan, united India was ruled by British for more than 300 years. East India Company which came to India for the purpose of trade soon noticed the political system of India because at that time were divided into princely states each governed and run by individual Princes called Raja. These princely states were mostly inherited or acquired in bloody battles fought between either neighboring states or from other governments.

By exploiting the weak links in the political system of that time the East India Company soon started to overtake these states and formed a central government of India by combining all the states under one rule. With the increasing political awareness which British have brought into India, people started to raise their voice against the oppression and unlawful British government and demanded independence from British rule. Soon it become very clear that Hindus because of their majority in India will rule other minorities specially Muslims in India the same way British ruled them therefore they started a separate struggle for the formation of an independent state.

Pakistan was the result of that struggle in which Indian Muslims started to get a separate homeland of their own where they can practice their faith independently.
